Family STEM Challenge Family STEM Challenge

As part of our STEM Program and family engagement at Austin Elementary School, we would like to invite families to participate in a fun, engaging, and non-mandatory STEM activity to complete once a month. The activity would aim to involve members of your family group and would use simple and common materials found around your house. You will not need to purchase any additional materials.

Be a “Rock Star” in our April/May STEM Challenge! Your challenge is  to paint a rock to decorate the Austin ES courtyard.  Your rock should be unique, just like you! You may design it any way you want or paint an inspirational message on it. Be sure you use paint that will not wash off in the rain! If you do not use weather proof paint, you will need to apply a sealant that protects the paint from washing off in the rain. Please see our STEM challenge design sheet for more information. When you complete your STEM Challenge, submit your rock in the bin labeled “Rock Star” in the front of the school. You may also submit your creation to the Flipgrid site to be featured in our weekly announcements.

wifi Complimentary Internet Offer from Comcast
Effective Monday, March 16, 2020, we are putting in place two substantial program enhancements to help these families deal with this crisis. Click here for all details.
  • We will make it even easier for low-income families who live in a Comcast service area to sign up by offering new customers 60 days of complimentary Internet Essentials service, which is normally available to all qualified low-income households for $9.95/month.
  • Also, we are increasing Internet speeds for the Internet Essentials service from 15/2 Mbps to 25/3 Mbps for all new and existing customers, which will be the speed of the service going forward. In this way, we will ensure that Internet Essentials customers will be able to use their Internet service for all their increased needs as a result of this health crisis.
