As part of our STEM Program and family engagement at Austin Elementary School, we would like to invite families to participate in a fun, engaging, and non-mandatory STEM activity to complete once a month. The activity would aim to involve members of your family group and would use simple and common materials found around your house. You will not need to purchase any additional materials.
This summer, please help Kelly Ridenhour, an ecology graduate researcher from UGA to collect data on fireflies in Atlanta. The Atlanta Firefly Project
is a community initiative that assists researchers in studying firefly conservation in Atlanta. You can help from your home. All it takes is a commitment to monitor outside your home two evenings in June and two evenings in July during the summer and submit information using their entry form documenting whether you see fireflies.
