Classroom Expectations

Positive    Behavior

We do not have a long list of classroom rules, my expectations are simple:
1. Be Nice
2. Work Hard
By demonstrating these positive behaviors the students
are contributing to an environment which is needed to ensure a successful school year.

Love     &     Logic      Philosophy

I will treat you with respect, so you know how to treat me.
Feel free to do anything in class as long as it does not cause a problem for anyone else.
If you cause a problem, I will ask you to solve it.
If you can not solve the problem, or choose not to, I will solve it for you.
How I solve the problem will depend on each special person and each special circumstance .

Cooperative        Learning

I wholeheartedly believe in cooperative learning in the classroom.
The children will work in various group settings,
so that they may help each other during the learning process.
Respect, cooperation, compassion, tolerance, and compromise
are just the beginning of the life skills reinforced through cooperative learning.

Research has shown that students do better when they
are allowed to discuss and defend their ideas as they learn.

Working in small groups ensures all children have a voice in the classroom.
Some parents are concerned about grades in the cooperative setting.
Don’t worry!
All academic grades come from individual assignments and tests.
Students’ grades will not be raised or lowered based on the performance of others.
