UPDATE: It's Eagle Bowl Time!

The third annual Austin Eagle Bowl is set for Friday January 11th from 1:00-2:00 PM (postponed from previous date).  The Austin Eagle Bowl flag football tournament features 24 teams from 4th and 5th grade.  This cross-curricular, school wide event combines elements from Art, Music, Physical Education, and STEM.  Teams are comprised of 5-7 players and have been working to create their own team names and logos in Art class, their own fight songs and drumlines in Music class, and team playbooks in physical education class.

This year's Eagle Bowl is certain to generate a lot of excitement around the school.  Teams have been working hard on their logos, playbooks, and drumlines. The flag football unit was made possible by a grant from NFL Play 60, acquired by Mr. Peters, HPE teacher at Austin.  Additional flag football equipment and resources have been made possible by funding from Austin's PTO.

The regular season began on November 26th.  Games will be played during PE classes and on Club Day throughout the unit.  The playoffs will begin in mid December, culminating with the top 4th grade and 5th grade teams playing for the Eagle Bowl Championship on December 20thth.  In addition to crowning the Eagle Bowl champion, teams will also be competing for top logo and drumline as part of a collaborative efforts through Art and Music.
