My name is Amisha Desai and I will be your child’s 1^st grade teacher!! I am very excited about the 2020-201 school year! I am originally from Chicago, IL, where I was born and raised. I attended Northern Illinois University and majored in Elementary Education. In 2013, I earned my Master’s Degree in Reading and Literacy from Benedictine University. This summer I had the opportunity to be Orton-Gillingham trained. I have lived in Atlanta for 7 years. My husband and I have been married for 11 years. We have 2 amazing children, Vikas (9), and Neera (6). Neera will be a 1st grader at Austin this year. I have taught kindergarten, first grade, and second grade over my 14 year teaching career. This will be my 8^th year at Austin!! 

        Here are some interesting facts about me:

I lived in India for 3 years, but was born in Chicago.

I can speak and/or comprehend five languages. 

I am a car enthusiast!
